We all know all the usual ways to paint and sketch, all the usual techniques and different kinds of paints, there is really no point in me bothering you with that, you did that in school and you are smart and you have books and art classes and internet to teach you that.
But, what about some fun and unusual ways to paint that do so well with steampunk aesthetics?
Like coffee and tea? How about using them to paint steampunk stuff?
The easyest way to start is by making the pot of strong, black tea and diping the whole paper in there. Just dip it in there and use slightly thicker paper, then press dry it (or under a pile of books) and voila, you have a paper that looks 100 years old and has wonderful shade of beige .
Or use a sponge to apply that tea to paper in blobby layers, that looks even more interesting. You can use this paper to draw and paint on it or write on it, or make cards or wrap gifts in it.

That is cool but you can do so much more
Make bunch of different strong teas and coffees (no milk or shugar, it will mold) and use them as paints, mix in some watercolors, pencils, chalk or whatever you want and start painting.
Result is a steampunk base pallet in ghost like shades and great details.

Just a few tips here:
Put some medical alcohol in teas and coffees to prevent molding
Also spray the painting with clear car-spray for the same reason
If you fuck something up, just keep going, maybe it turns out awesome at the end
Painting with wine
Red and rose wine is also great for painting, keep the rest of different wines in small bottles and use them to add dark reds to your steampunk paintings.
We talked about adding jewel colors to steampunk so this is just ideal.

Have fun ad good luck
